GSROC

GSROC is a volunteer-driven organization. We are funded entirely by private donations and receive no government support. Dogs for adoption are housed in foster home situations and in private boarding facilities.
Approximately 50% of the dogs that we rescue come to us directly from owners who are no longer able to care for them for one reason or another. The number one reason that we receive dogs is “Moving,” with the number two reason of “No time for” as a close second.

Animal Rights means that animals are not ours to use for food, clothing, entertainment, or experimentation. Animal care or welfare allows these uses as long as 'humane' guidelines are followed. In its simplest form, animal welfare refers to the relationships people have with animals and the duty they have to assure that the animals under their care are treated humanely and responsibly.  Animal rights are not just a philosophy—it is a social movement that challenges society’s traditional view that all nonhuman animals exist solely for human use.  Only prejudice allows us to deny others the rights that we expect to have for ourselves. Animal nonprofits include humane societies and SPCAs, bird and wildlife sanctuaries, fisheries, veterinary organizations, zoos, and animal-training nonprofits.
