Job Description

As an Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating and underwriting trade credit insurance policies to support our clients' business needs.   1. Analyze and evaluate trade credit insurance policies to ensure compliance with company standards and risk management guidelines.

  3. Utilize strong understanding of trade credit policies and procedures to accurately assess risk and make informed underwriting decisions.
  4. Collaborate with brokers, clients, and other internal teams to gather necessary information and provide recommendations for coverage.
  5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes related to trade credit insurance.
  6. Monitor and review policy renewals, amendments, and cancellations to determine potential changes in risk and coverage needs.
  7. Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders to provide guidance and answer questions related to trade credit insurance.
  8. Utilize strong attention to detail to identify and mitigate potential risks and exposures.
  9. Maintain accurate and organized underwriting files and documentation.
  10. Actively participate in training and development programs to enhance underwriting skills and knowledge.
  11. Adhere to company underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  12. Proactively identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
  13. Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in trade credit insurance.
  14. Handle multiple tasks and projects while meeting strict deadlines.
  15. Provide exceptional customer service to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Analytical Skills: An Underwriter, Trade Credit Must Possess Excellent Analytical Skills To Evaluate Risks And Make Informed Decisions. This Includes The Ability To Review Financial Statements, Credit Reports, And Other Relevant Data To Assess The Creditworthiness Of Potential Clients.

  • Knowledge Of Trade Credit Insurance: A Fundamental Qualification For An Underwriter, Trade Credit Is A Comprehensive Understanding Of Trade Credit Insurance Policies, Procedures, And Industry Trends. This Includes Knowledge Of Credit Risk Assessment, Underwriting Guidelines, And Claims Handling Processes.

  • Attention To Detail: As An Underwriter, Trade Credit, Attention To Detail Is Crucial To Accurately Assess Credit Risks And Make Sound Decisions. This Involves Carefully Analyzing And Interpreting Large Amounts Of Financial Data, Policies, And Contracts To Identify Potential Risks And Mitigate Them Effectively.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Essential For An Underwriter, Trade Credit, As They Must Interact With Various Stakeholders Such As Clients, Brokers, And Internal Teams. This Includes The Ability To Articulate Complex Information, Negotiate Terms, And Build Strong Relationships To Support Business Growth.

  • Relevant Experience And Qualifications: Most Employers Require A Bachelor's Degree In Finance, Business, Or Related Fields For An Underwriter, Trade Credit Role. Additionally, Relevant Experience In Credit Risk Assessment, Underwriting, Or Related Roles Is Highly Desirable. Professional Certifications Such As Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (Cpcu) Or Credit Risk Certification (Crc) Can Also Be Advantageous.
