Responsibilities:

  1. Perform blood collection procedures on donors, following all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
  2. Maintain accurate and detailed records of donor information and blood collection process.
  3. Handle donor inquiries and concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
  4. Prepare and package blood donations for transportation to laboratory for testing.
  5. Monitor donor reactions and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  6. Ensure proper labeling and storage of blood products.
  7. Collaborate with team members to achieve daily collection goals.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient collection process.
  9. Keep up-to-date with all training and certifications required for the role.
  10. Adhere to all federal, state, and organizational regulations and guidelines.
  11. Participate in promotional events to increase donor recruitment and retention.
  12. Continuously follow up on donor eligibility and deferral requirements.
  13. Communicate effectively with donors, coworkers, and medical staff.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of donor information and follow HIPAA regulations.
  15. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the donor experience.

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician: The Individual Must Possess A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomy Technician From A Reputable Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).

  • Knowledge Of Blood Collection Procedures: The Candidate Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Blood Collection Procedures, Including Proper Techniques For Venipuncture, Capillary Puncture, And Blood Sample Labeling And Storage.

  • Experience In A Clinical Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Or Medical Setting Is Highly Preferred. This Can Include Experience As A Phlebotomist, Medical Assistant, Or Other Healthcare Role.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For This Role, As The Individual Will Be Interacting With Donors And Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis. The Ability To Provide Clear Instructions And Explanations To Donors Is Crucial For A Successful Blood Collection Process.

  • Attention To Detail: Precision And Accuracy Are Critical In The Blood Collection Process. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure That All Samples Are Collected And Labeled Correctly, And That All Necessary Documentation Is Completed Accurately.
