- Greet and welcome blood donors with a positive and friendly attitude.
- Provide exceptional customer service to ensure a positive experience for blood donors.
- Educate and inform donors about the blood donation process and answer any questions they may have.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to create a safe and comfortable atmosphere for donors.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Blood Collection Staff-Customer Service Job At American Red Cross Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Can Handle Tasks Such As Data Entry, Record Keeping, And Communicating With Donors.
Valid Phlebotomy Certification: A Valid Phlebotomy Certification Is Essential For This Role As It Demonstrates The Candidate's Knowledge And Skills In Collecting Blood Samples, Handling And Storing Blood Products, And Maintaining A Sterile Environment. The American Red Cross May Also Require Additional Training And Certification In Donor Screening And Customer Service.
Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent Communication Skills Are Paramount For This Role As Blood Collection Staff-Customer Service Will Be Interacting With Donors, Volunteers, And Other Team Members On A Daily Basis. They Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively And Empathetically With Donors To Make Them Feel Comfortable And At Ease During The Donation Process.

Therefore, Candidates With Previous Experience In Customer Service Roles, Such As Retail, Hospitality, Or Call Centers, Are Preferred. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Handle Customer Inquiries, Diffuse Difficult Situations, And Provide A Positive Experience.
Physical Stamina And Dexterity: The Job Of A Blood Collection Staff-Customer Service Requires Physical Stamina And Dexterity As They Will Be On Their Feet For Extended Periods, Bending, And Reaching To Collect Blood Samples. They Must Also Be Able To Lift Heavy Boxes Of Supplies And Move Equipment As Needed.
