Job Description

If so, the American Red Cross is seeking a Disaster Program Manager to join our team and help us provide vital support to those affected by disasters. As a Disaster Program Manager, you will play a critical role in coordinating and leading disaster response efforts, as well as building and maintaining relationships with community partners. We are looking for a highly organized and empathetic individual who can effectively manage teams and resources, while also providing compassionate support to those in need. If you have a strong background in emergency management and a desire to serve others, we want to hear from you.

  1. Lead disaster response efforts: Take charge of coordinating and directing disaster relief efforts in the community, including mobilizing volunteers and resources.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with community partners: Cultivate strong partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance disaster response capabilities and ensure effective collaboration.
  3. Manage teams and resources: Oversee a team of volunteers and staff, assign tasks and responsibilities, and ensure the efficient use of resources to maximize impact.
  4. Provide compassionate support: Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity when interacting with individuals affected by disasters, and provide emotional support and assistance in accessing resources.
  5. Stay updated on emergency management protocols: Stay informed on best practices and protocols in emergency management and ensure they are implemented in disaster response efforts.
  6. Plan and conduct trainings: Develop and deliver trainings to volunteers and staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in disaster response and management.
  7. Monitor and evaluate disaster response efforts: Track and assess the effectiveness of disaster response efforts and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  8. Collaborate with internal teams: Work closely with other departments within the American Red Cross, such as communications and fundraising, to ensure a coordinated and effective response to disasters.
  9. Represent the organization: Serve as a representative of the American Red Cross in various community meetings and events, and effectively communicate the organization's mission and impact.
  10. Adhere to safety and ethical standards: Follow safety protocols and ensure ethical practices are maintained during disaster response efforts.
  11. Document and report: Keep accurate records and produce reports on disaster response activities, including volunteer and resource utilization, outcomes, and challenges.
