Job Description

  1. Perform phlebotomy procedures according to established protocols and guidelines.
  2. Adhere to all safety and infection control measures to ensure the safety of donors and staff.
  3. Greet and interact with donors in a friendly and professional manner, providing exceptional customer service.
  4. Ensure accurate identification and labeling of blood samples.
  5. Monitor and track donor information and records, including demographics and medical history.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of biohazard materials.
  7. Assist with donor recruitment and retention efforts.
  8. Communicate effectively with donors, staff, and management regarding any issues or concerns.
  9. Collaborate with other medical professionals to ensure donor safety and well-being during and after the donation process.
  10. Participate in training and educational opportunities to maintain and improve phlebotomy skills and knowledge.
  11. Act as a representative of the American Red Cross and promote the organization's mission and values.
  12. Adhere to all HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines when handling donor information.
  13. Report any equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to management.
  14. Attend team meetings and actively contribute to improving processes and procedures.
  15. Maintain accurate records and documentation of phlebotomy procedures and donor interactions.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification Or Licensure As A Phlebotomist - The Candidate Should Have A Valid Certification Or Licensure As A Phlebotomist From A Recognized Institution Or State Agency.

  • Experience In Blood Collection And Processing - Experience In Blood Collection Techniques, Processing Procedures, And Equipment Is Essential For This Role. Previous Experience Working In A Blood Donor Center Or Blood Bank Is Preferred.

  • Knowledge Of Safety And Infection Control Protocols - Due To The Nature Of The Job, A Donor Center Phlebotomist Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety And Infection Control Protocols To Ensure The Safety Of Donors And Staff.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills - The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Donors And Colleagues Is Crucial For A Donor Center Phlebotomist. They Must Also Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills To Build Rapport With Donors And Make Them Feel Comfortable During The Donation Process.

  • Physical Stamina And Dexterity - This Role Requires Standing For Long Periods And Performing Repetitive Tasks, Such As Drawing Blood And Labeling Samples. Therefore, A Candidate Must Have Physical Stamina And Dexterity To Perform The Job Efficiently.
