We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Donor Center Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Donor Center Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in our life-saving mission by collecting blood donations from our generous donors.   1. Greet and welcome donors to the American Red Cross Donor Center in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Perform phlebotomy procedures to collect blood donations from donors, following all safety protocols and procedures.
  3. Ensure that all necessary equipment and supplies are prepared and available for each donation session.
  4. Accurately complete donor registration and medical screening processes, ensuring all information is entered correctly into the database.
  5. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sanitizing equipment and workstations after each donation.
  6. Monitor donors for any adverse reactions or complications during and after donation, and provide appropriate care and assistance as needed.
  7. Educate donors about the donation process and the importance of their contribution to the community.
  8. Follow all standard operating procedures and safety regulations to ensure the quality and safety of donated blood.
  9. Work closely with other team members and department staff to ensure efficient and effective operations of the Donor Center.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of donor information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  11. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
  12. Adhere to all American Red Cross policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
  13. Provide excellent customer service to donors, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  14. Take initiative to identify and communicate any issues or concerns that may impact the donor experience or the donation process.
  15. Continuously strive to improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the Donor Center.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Donor Center Phlebotomist Must Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Be Considered For The Job. This Shows A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Of Fundamental Concepts.

  • Certification In Phlebotomy: Candidates For This Position Should Have A Valid Phlebotomy Certification From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Individual Has Received Proper Training And Has The Necessary Skills To Perform Blood Draws.

  • Experience With Blood Collections: Prior Experience With Blood Collections, Whether In A Clinical Or Non-Clinical Setting, Is Highly Desirable For A Donor Center Phlebotomist. This Demonstrates The Candidate's Familiarity With The Process And Ability To Handle Potential Challenges.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As A Donor Center Phlebotomist, You Will Be Interacting With Donors On A Daily Basis. Excellent Communication Skills Are Essential To Effectively Explain The Donation Process, Answer Questions, And Make Donors Feel Comfortable And At Ease.

  • Knowledge Of Safety And Sterilization Procedures: A Donor Center Phlebotomist Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety And Sterilization Procedures To Ensure The Safety Of Both Donors And Staff. This Includes Knowledge Of Osha Regulations, Proper Disposal Of Medical Waste, And Maintaining A Sterile Environment.
