As a Donor Center Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in helping save lives by collecting blood donations at our donor centers.   1. Collect blood donations from donors at our donor centers.
  2. Ensure that all phlebotomy techniques are performed accurately and in accordance with best practices.
  3. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the donor center.
  4. Provide excellent customer service to donors and make them feel welcome and appreciated.
  5. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of donors and staff.
  6. Accurately record and label all blood donations and ensure proper storage and transportation.
  7. Assist with donor recruitment efforts and promote the importance of blood donations.
  8. Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and handle all donor information with sensitivity and discretion.
  9. Keep accurate records of donor information and maintain donor records in our database.
  10. Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective blood collection processes.
  11. Attend regular training and educational sessions to stay updated on phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
  12. Take initiative to identify and report any potential issues or concerns related to blood donations.
  13. Represent the American Red Cross in a professional and positive manner at all times.
  14. Demonstrate a strong understanding of our organization's mission and values, and actively contribute to its success.
  15. Continuously strive to improve and enhance the donor experience and overall efficiency of the donor center.

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Phlebotomist: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Valid Certification In Phlebotomy From A Recognized Institution. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Proper Training And Has The Necessary Skills To Perform Blood Collection Procedures Accurately And Safely.

  • Experience In Blood Collection: Previous Experience In A Blood Collection Setting, Such As A Donor Center, Hospital Or Clinic, Is Highly Desirable. This Experience Will Demonstrate The Candidate's Ability To Work Efficiently In A Fast-Paced Environment And Handle A High Volume Of Blood Donations.

  • Knowledge Of Blood Collection Procedures: A Thorough Understanding Of Blood Collection Procedures, Including Venipuncture, Fingerstick, And Donor Screening, Is Essential For This Role. The Candidate Should Also Be Familiar With Infection Control And Safety Protocols To Minimize The Risk Of Bloodborne Pathogen Transmission.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Donor Center Phlebotomist, The Candidate Will Interact With A Diverse Donor Population. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Crucial To Effectively Communicate With Donors, Colleagues, And Other Healthcare Professionals.

  • Compassionate And Empathetic Nature: The American Red Cross Is A Humanitarian Organization, And The Donor Center Phlebotomist Plays A Vital Role In Building And Maintaining Relationships With Blood Donors. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Compassionate, Empathetic, And Possess Excellent Customer Service Skills To Make Donors Feel Comfortable And Appreciated During The Blood Donation Process.
