
Donor Center Phlebotomist

- Perform phlebotomy procedures on donors in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor donors for any adverse reactions during and after donation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Follow all standard operating procedures and protocols to ensure the safety and quality of blood donations.
- Accurately record donor information and test results in a timely manner.
- Communicate with donors in a friendly and professional manner, providing education and answering any questions they may have.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the donor center.
- Adhere to all HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and notify supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
- Provide exceptional customer service to donors, promoting a positive donor experience.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
- Continuously strive to improve processes and procedures to enhance the donor experience and increase efficiency.
- Represent the American Red Cross in a professional and positive manner at all times.
Certification In Phlebotomy: A Donor Center Phlebotomist At American Red Cross Must Have A Current Certification In Phlebotomy From A Recognized Institution, Such As The National Healthcareer Association (Nha) Or The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Knowledge Of Blood Collection Procedures: Candidates Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Blood Collection Procedures, Including Venipuncture And Capillary Puncture Techniques, As Well As The Ability To Follow Strict Safety Protocols To Prevent Contamination And Ensure Donor Safety.
Strong Communication Skills: Donor Center Phlebotomists Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Donors, Medical Staff, And Other Team Members. This Includes Providing Clear Instructions, Answering Questions, And Maintaining A Professional And Empathetic Demeanor At All Times.
Attention To Detail: The Ability To Accurately Collect, Label, And Document Specimens Is Crucial For This Role. Donor Center Phlebotomists Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure Accurate Records And Proper Tracking Of Donor Samples.
Compassion And Empathy: Working With Blood Donors Can Be A Challenging And Emotional Experience. Candidates Should Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills And Demonstrate Compassion And Empathy Towards Donors, Especially During Difficult Situations Or If Complications Arise During The Donation Process.
