Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Donor Center Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Donor Center Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in our life-saving work by collecting blood donations from our generous donors.   1. Perform phlebotomy procedures to collect blood donations from donors in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner.
  2. Verify donor eligibility and ensure all necessary paperwork and documentation is completed accurately.
  3. Adhere to strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent contamination and ensure donor safety.
  4. Provide excellent customer service to donors and address any questions or concerns they may have during the donation process.
  5. Use appropriate equipment and techniques to collect and handle blood donations according to standard operating procedures.
  6. Label and properly store collected blood donations for transport to the laboratory for processing.
  7. Conduct post-donation care and monitoring of donors, including checking vital signs and providing refreshments.
  8. Maintain accurate records of donor information and donation data in electronic and paper formats.
  9. Participate in ongoing training and educational programs to stay updated on phlebotomy techniques, safety protocols, and organizational policies.
  10. Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations of the donor center and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  11. Comply with all regulatory and organizational guidelines, including HIPAA, OSHA, and American Red Cross policies.
  12. Support the mission and values of the American Red Cross and contribute to a culture of excellence and compassion.
  13. Communicate effectively with donors, volunteers, and staff to promote a positive and welcoming atmosphere at the donor center.
  14. Take responsibility for maintaining personal and professional development and seek opportunities for growth within the organization.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the donor center supervisor or management team.

  • Completion Of An Accredited Phlebotomy Program: Candidates Should Have A Certificate Or Degree From An Accredited Phlebotomy Program, Demonstrating A Comprehensive Understanding Of Phlebotomy Techniques And Procedures.

  • Valid State Phlebotomy Certification: A Valid State Phlebotomy Certification Is Required For This Position, Ensuring That Candidates Have Met The Necessary Criteria And Have Demonstrated Competence In The Field.

  • Experience With Blood Collection And Handling: Previous Experience With Blood Collection And Handling Is An Important Qualification For This Role, As It Involves Daily Interaction With Donors And Processing Of Blood Products.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Donor Center Phlebotomists Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Interact Effectively With Donors And Colleagues. They Should Also Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills To Make Donors Feel Comfortable And At Ease During The Donation Process.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Safety Protocols: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Safety Protocols Is Crucial For This Role. Donor Center Phlebotomists Must Be Able To Accurately Communicate With Medical Staff And Follow Strict Safety Guidelines To Ensure The Safety Of Donors And Blood Products.
