  1. Perform phlebotomy procedures on blood donors, ensuring the proper collection and handling of blood samples.
  2. Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the donor center, following all OSHA and FDA regulations.
  3. Greet and assist donors in a friendly and professional manner, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  4. Accurately record donor information and test results in electronic health records system.
  5. Monitor donor reactions and respond promptly and appropriately to any adverse events.
  6. Ensure proper inventory and storage of blood products, following established protocols.
  7. Adhere to strict quality control measures and maintain accurate records of all procedures and tests performed.
  8. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
  9. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective operation of the donor center.
  10. Comply with all HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of donor and patient information.
  11. Serve as a positive representative of the American Red Cross and promote the importance of blood donation to the community.
  12. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  13. Comply with all safety policies and procedures, including proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
  14. Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor with donors, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
  15. Serve as a role model for best practices in customer service, teamwork, and ethical behavior.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification In Phlebotomy: A Donor Center Phlebotomist At American Red Cross Must Hold A Valid Certification In Phlebotomy From A Recognized Institution. This Certification Demonstrates A Thorough Understanding Of Phlebotomy Techniques, Safety Protocols, And Ethical Practices.

  • Experience In Blood Collection: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Blood Collection, Preferably In A Donor Center Setting. This Experience Will Ensure That The Phlebotomist Is Familiar With The Processes And Procedures Involved In Collecting And Handling Blood Donations.

  • Knowledge Of Bloodborne Pathogens: Donor Center Phlebotomists Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Bloodborne Pathogens And How To Prevent Their Transmission. This Knowledge Is Crucial For Maintaining A Safe And Sanitary Work Environment For Both Donors And Staff.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Donor Center Phlebotomist, You Will Be Interacting With A Diverse Group Of Donors On A Daily Basis. Strong Communication Skills, Including The Ability To Explain Procedures And Answer Questions, Are Essential For Creating A Positive Donor Experience.

  • Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Working In A Donor Center Can Be Fast-Paced And Demanding. Phlebotomists Must Be Able To Work Efficiently And Accurately Under Pressure While Maintaining A Friendly And Professional Demeanor. The Ability To Multitask And Prioritize Tasks Is Also Essential For Success In This Role.
