
IRL Technologist - Blood Bank Technology Program

- Perform complex laboratory testing on blood products to ensure their safety and compatibility for transfusion.
- Follow all standard operating procedures and safety protocols to maintain the highest level of quality and accuracy in testing.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot any issues, and report any malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Monitor inventory levels and perform regular quality control checks to ensure accurate and timely testing.
- Record and maintain accurate documentation of all laboratory procedures and results.
- Communicate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure efficient and timely delivery of blood products.
- Participate in training and development programs to stay current with new techniques and technologies in blood banking.
- Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation requirements and maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement new processes and procedures to improve efficiency and quality.
- Act as a mentor and resource for less experienced technologists, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Conduct research and assist in the development of new tests and procedures to advance the field of blood bank technology.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings, providing insights and suggestions for process improvement.
- Uphold the values and mission of the American Red Cross, promoting a positive image and reputation in the community.
Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field, With A Concentration In Blood Bank Technology.
Current Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls) Or Medical Technologist (Mt) From A Recognized Accrediting Agency.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Blood Bank Laboratory Setting, With A Strong Understanding Of Blood Donation, Processing, And Testing Procedures.
Knowledge Of Regulatory Requirements And Standards Related To Blood Bank Technology, Including Fda, Aabb, And Clia.
Strong Communication Skills And Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Team, As Well As A Commitment To Patient Safety And Quality Control.
