  1. Create and install decorative plaster designs on historic and iconic buildings under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol.
  2. Collaborate with architects, designers, and project managers to ensure the integrity and accuracy of plaster designs.
  3. Study and analyze historical plaster techniques and materials to accurately replicate and preserve the original designs.
  4. Execute intricate and precise plaster work, including mold-making, casting, and finishing.
  5. Use a variety of tools and techniques to manipulate and shape plaster, such as hand tools, stencils, and carving tools.
  6. Prepare surfaces for plaster work by cleaning, patching, and priming as needed.
  7. Mix and apply plaster materials in adherence to safety and quality standards.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring the proper storage and maintenance of tools and materials.
  9. Keep track of project timelines and communicate any potential delays or issues to the project manager.
  10. Continuously develop and refine plastering skills to stay current with industry trends and techniques.
  11. Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  12. Contribute to the overall aesthetic of the Nation's Capitol by showcasing your skills and creativity through decorative plaster work.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Decorative Plastering Techniques: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Deep Understanding Of Various Plastering Techniques Such As Stucco, Lime Plaster, Venetian Plaster, Etc. They Should Also Be Familiar With Different Types Of Plaster Materials And Their Applications.

  • Experience In Historic Preservation: Architect Of The Capitol Is Responsible For The Maintenance And Preservation Of Historic Buildings On Capitol Hill. Therefore, A Decorative Plasterer Should Have Hands-On Experience In Restoring And Repairing Historic Plasterwork.

  • Attention To Detail: Decorative Plastering Requires Precision And Attention To Detail To Create Intricate Designs And Patterns. The Candidate Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Produce High-Quality Work.

  • Physical Strength And Endurance: This Job Involves Working With Heavy Materials And Tools, Standing For Long Periods, And Performing Physically Demanding Tasks. Therefore, The Candidate Should Be Physically Fit And Have The Stamina To Handle The Demands Of The Job.

  • Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team: A Decorative Plasterer At Architect Of The Capitol Must Be Able To Work Independently As Well As Collaborate With Other Tradespeople And Contractors.
