- Provide emotional support and counseling to cancer patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care and support.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' psychosocial needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to address any psychosocial barriers that may impact patient's treatment and recovery.
- Assist patients and families in navigating the healthcare system and understanding their treatment options.
- Educate patients and families on available resources and provide referrals to support services such as financial assistance, transportation, and home care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review patient progress and identify any psychosocial concerns.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, interventions, and referrals.
- Stay updated on current research, best practices, and community resources related to oncology social work.
- Advocate for patients' rights and ensure that their psychosocial needs are addressed in the healthcare setting.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, support groups, and other healthcare providers to enhance patient care.
- Collaborate with insurance companies and other payers to obtain necessary authorizations and approvals for services.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to patients and families during difficult times.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards of practice in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Attend professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in oncology social work.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Social Work From An Accredited University.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In An Oncology Setting, Preferably In A Navigation Or Care Coordination Role.
Knowledge And Understanding Of The Psychosocial Needs Of Cancer Patients And Their Families.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Interdisciplinary Teams And Build Rapport With Patients.
Certification In Oncology Social Work (Osw-C) Preferred.
