Lead and manage a team of computational chemists to achieve company goals and objectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including medicinal chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to develop and implement computational strategies for drug discovery.
Utilize your expertise in computational chemistry to drive the discovery and development of novel and effective medicines.
Conduct research and analysis to identify potential drug targets and design molecules with desired properties.
Apply computational methods and tools to optimize drug leads and predict their potential efficacy, toxicity, and ADME properties.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in computational chemistry and incorporate new techniques into drug discovery projects.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior scientists on the team.
Develop and maintain relationships with external collaborators and research partners to leverage their expertise and resources.
Contribute to project planning and strategy development to ensure efficient and successful execution of drug discovery projects.
Prepare and present scientific findings and recommendations to senior management and cross-functional teams.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of research activities, results, and conclusions.

Job Qualifications

Advanced Degree In Chemistry Or Related Field: A Lead Computational Chemist At Astrazeneca Must Possess A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Or A Related Field. A Phd Is Preferred.
Extensive Experience In Computational Chemistry: A Successful Candidate Must Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Working In The Field Of Computational Chemistry, With A Strong Understanding Of Molecular Modeling, Simulation, And Data Analysis Techniques.
Proficiency In Relevant Software And Programming Languages: The Lead Computational Chemist Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Relevant Software And Programming Languages Such As Python, R, And C++, As Well As Experience With Molecular Modeling Software Such As Schrödinger And Gaussian.
Strong Project Management Skills: Astrazeneca's Lead Computational Chemist Will Be Responsible For Leading And Managing Multiple Projects, So Strong Project Management Skills Are A Must. This Includes The Ability To Set Timelines, Delegate Tasks, And Communicate Effectively With Team Members And Stakeholders.
Excellent Problem-Solving Abilities: The Ideal Candidate Will Have A Strong Analytical Mindset And Be Able To Think Critically And Creatively To Solve Complex Problems. They Must Also Be Able To Adapt Quickly To Changing Project Requirements And Troubleshoot Any Issues That Arise During The Course Of A Project.
