Atrium Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Genetic Counselor to join our team as a Laboratory Genetic Counselor.In this role, you will work closely with our laboratory team to provide genetic counseling services to patients and their families. You will play a critical role in interpreting and communicating complex genetic test results, providing education and support to patients, and collaborating with healthcare providers to guide patient care.To excel in this position, you must have a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling, be board certified or board eligible, and have experience in a laboratory setting.   • Provide genetic counseling services to patients and their families, including interpreting and communicating complex genetic test results and providing education and support
  • Collaborate with laboratory team to ensure accurate and timely testing and results reporting
  • Work closely with healthcare providers to guide patient care and provide recommendations for genetic testing and management
  • Stay up-to-date on current research, technologies, and treatments related to genetic counseling and testing
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and documentation
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient care and treatment plans
  • Serve as a resource for other healthcare professionals and provide education and training on genetics and genetic counseling
  • Advocate for patients and their families by providing emotional support and helping them make informed decisions about their health
  • Adhere to all ethical and legal standards related to genetic counseling, including informed consent and patient confidentiality
  • Continuously evaluate and improve genetic counseling services and processes to ensure high-quality care for patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling From An Accredited Program.

  • Certification By The American Board Of Genetic Counseling (Abgc).

  • Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting, Preferably In A Genetics Or Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory.

  • Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Genetic Testing Technologies And Their Applications.

  • Excellent Communication And Counseling Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Genetic Information To Patients And Healthcare Providers.
