This vital role is responsible for coordinating the recovery of organs and tissues for transplantation, ultimately saving and improving the lives of those in need.   1. Coordinate the recovery of organs and tissues for transplantation.
  2. Communicate with potential organ donors, donor families, and healthcare professionals to identify potential donors and retrieve necessary medical information.
  3. Assess donor suitability based on medical and social history, laboratory results, and physical examination.
  4. Obtain consent for organ and tissue donation from donor families.
  5. Manage the organ and tissue recovery process, including scheduling surgeries, coordinating transportation, and ensuring proper preservation.
  6. Collaborate with transplant centers to match potential donors with recipients.
  7. Document all interactions and procedures in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  8. Participate in on-call rotation to respond to potential organ donors and coordinate recovery activities.
  9. Provide support and education to donor families throughout the donation process.
  10. Remain up-to-date on current organ donation regulations and procedures.
  11. Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  12. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions.
  13. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  14. Attend and actively participate in meetings, trainings, and educational programs.
  15. Represent Atrium Health in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Critical Care Or Organ Procurement Setting.

  • Certification As An Organ Procurement Coordinator (Cpc) Or Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (Cctc) Preferred.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Federal And State Regulations Related To Organ Donation And Transplantation.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Wide Range Of Healthcare Professionals And Donor Families.
