- Administer pain medications and other therapeutic interventions as ordered by physicians or prescribed by advanced practice providers
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care for patients with pain
- Educate patients and their families about pain management techniques, medications, and potential side effects
- Monitor and document patients' response to pain management interventions and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Communicate with physicians and advanced practice providers regarding changes in patients' pain levels or response to treatment
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families coping with pain and its impact on daily life
- Stay updated on the latest research and evidence-based practices related to pain management and incorporate into patient care
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain accurate records of medications administered and procedures performed
- Serve as an advocate for patients' pain management needs and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes.
Active Rn License In The State Of Practice: Atrium Health Requires All Registered Nurses In The Pain Management Department To Hold A Current, Active License As A Registered Nurse In The State Where They Will Be Practicing.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Pain Management: Atrium Health Seeks Candidates With A Strong Background In Pain Management, Preferably With At Least 2 Years Of Experience In A Similar Setting.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field: While Not Required, Atrium Health Values Candidates Who Have Completed A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or A Related Field, As It Demonstrates A Higher Level Of Knowledge And Commitment To The Nursing Profession.
Certification In Pain Management Nursing (Cpn): Atrium Health Prefers Candidates Who Have Obtained Certification In Pain Management Nursing From A Nationally Recognized Organization, Such As The American Nurses Credentialing Center (Ancc) Or The American Society For Pain Management Nursing (Aspmn).
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Registered Nurse In Pain Management, Effective Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Building Trust With Patients And Collaborating With Other Healthcare Team Members.
