  1. Conduct vascular access assessments and provide specialized care to patients across the healthcare system.
  2. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
  3. Perform vascular access procedures, including central line placement, PICC line insertion, and peripheral IV placement.
  4. Monitor and maintain the function and integrity of vascular access devices.
  5. Educate patients and their families on the importance of proper vascular access care and maintenance.
  6. Document all procedures and patient interactions accurately and thoroughly in electronic medical records.
  7. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment for patients.
  8. Stay up-to-date with advancements and best practices in vascular access care and participate in continuing education opportunities.
  9. Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare team members on vascular access care.
  10. Maintain a high level of compassion and empathy towards patients while providing excellent customer service.
  11. Collaborate with other departments and teams within the healthcare system to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
  12. Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  13. Demonstrate professionalism and uphold the mission and values of Atrium Health at all times.
  14. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  15. Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: Atrium Health Requires All Registered Nurses On The Vascular Access Team To Have A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn). This Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory, Research, And Practice To Ensure High-Quality Care For Patients.

  • Registered Nurse Licensure: Atrium Health Requires All Nurses On The Vascular Access Team To Hold A Current And Valid Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Employment. This Ensures That The Nurse Has Met The Educational And Competency Requirements To Practice Nursing Safely And Effectively.

  • Vascular Access Certification: Atrium Health Prefers Candidates For The Vascular Access Team To Hold A Certification In Vascular Access, Such As Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (Crni) Or Certified Registered Vascular Access (Crva). This Demonstrates Specialized Knowledge And Skills In Vascular Access Procedures.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Nursing Experience: Atrium Health Requires Candidates For The Vascular Access Team To Have At Least 2 Years Of Nursing Experience, Preferably In An Acute Care Setting. This Ensures That The Nurse Has A Solid Foundation In Basic Nursing Skills And Can Handle The Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment Of A Hospital.

  • Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: Atrium Health Values Nurses Who Have Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills. This Is Especially Important For The Vascular Access Team, As They Often Work Closely With Other Healthcare Providers And Must Make Quick And Accurate Decisions To Ensure Patient Safety.
