  1. Greet and welcome patients and their families to the unit with a warm and friendly demeanor.
  2. Provide administrative support to the unit by answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and managing patient information.
  3. Maintain accurate and organized patient records, including medical history, test results, and treatment plans.
  4. Coordinate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely and efficient patient care.
  5. Monitor and order supplies for the unit, ensuring that all necessary materials are available when needed.
  6. Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and efficiently.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide updates and address any concerns or questions.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  9. Collaborate with other unit secretaries and healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations and a positive work environment.
  10. Attend meetings and training sessions to stay updated on hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
  11. Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring effective communication and addressing any issues that may arise.
  12. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  13. Display a professional and compassionate attitude at all times, promoting a welcoming and caring atmosphere for patients and their families.
  14. Continuously strive to improve processes and procedures to enhance the overall patient experience.
  15. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including code of conduct and ethical standards.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: Atrium Health Requires All Unit Secretaries To Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education.

  • Previous Clerical Or Administrative Experience: Candidates For This Role Should Have Previous Experience In A Clerical Or Administrative Role, Ideally In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: The Unit Secretary Will Be Responsible For Maintaining Patient Records And Communicating With Healthcare Professionals, So A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Necessary.

  • Proficient Computer Skills: Atrium Health Utilizes Electronic Medical Records And Other Computer Systems, So Candidates Should Have Strong Computer Skills And Be Able To Learn New Software Quickly.

  • Excellent Communication And Organizational Skills: The Unit Secretary Will Be Responsible For Managing Multiple Tasks And Communicating With Various Individuals, So Strong Communication And Organizational Skills Are Essential.
