- Oversee the coding and billing processes for surgical services at Baptist Health South Florida.
- Ensure accuracy of coding and billing procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with all coding and billing guidelines and regulations.
- Train and supervise a team of surgical billing and coding staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Review and analyze coding and billing data to identify any discrepancies or areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to streamline coding and billing processes and improve overall efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in coding and billing regulations and implement necessary updates and adjustments.
- Communicate with insurance companies and patients regarding coding and billing inquiries or issues.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to surgical billing and coding.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims to insurance companies.
- Monitor and manage denials and appeals related to surgical billing and coding.
- Conduct regular audits to maintain accuracy and compliance in coding and billing processes.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to strategic planning for improving healthcare services.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all aspects of the job.
- Serve as a role model for high ethical standards and professionalism within the organization.
Extensive Knowledge Of Surgical Billing And Coding Practices: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Surgical Billing And Coding Procedures, Including Cpt, Icd-10, And Hcpcs Codes. They Should Also Be Familiar With Insurance Guidelines And Reimbursement Policies.
Supervisory Experience: As A Supervisor, The Candidate Should Have Prior Experience Managing A Team Of Billing And Coding Specialists. This Includes Overseeing Their Work, Providing Feedback And Support, And Resolving Any Issues That May Arise.
Certification In Medical Coding: A Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Health Information Management Association (Ahima) Or The American Academy Of Professional Coders (Aapc), Is Preferred. This Demonstrates A High Level Of Proficiency And Commitment To The Field.
Strong Communication And Leadership Skills: The Role Of A Surgical Billing And Coding Supervisor Requires Effective Communication With Surgeons, Insurance Companies, And Other Healthcare Professionals. The Candidate Should Also Have Strong Leadership Skills To Motivate And Guide Their Team.
Attention To Detail And Accuracy: The Candidate Should Have A Meticulous Eye For Detail And Be Able To Maintain A High Level Of Accuracy In Their Work. This Is Crucial In Ensuring Correct Billing And Coding For Surgical Procedures, Which Directly Impacts The Revenue Of The Healthcare Organization.
