
Corrections Officer
This position performs a wide variety of duties within the Bastrop County Jail. Duties include monitoring inmates, providing meals and basic medical care, supervising visitation, and preparing related paperwork and records. Must be able to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment. This position includes an element of personal danger; i.e., possible exposure to physical injury in the handling of hostile/violent inmates. Operates in a 24/7 environment on a rotating shift basis. Incumbents perform duties in accordance with Texas Jail Standards rules, and established departmental policies, procedures and guidelines. Performs related work or other duties as required. Works under the general supervision of a Corrections Sergeant.
Valid driver’s license is required
Successfully complete a 96 hour Basic Jailer Course within one year from date of employment
