Assistant Brewer
Welcome to BJ's Restaurants! We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Brewer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our experienced brewers to help create and maintain our delicious craft beers. - Assist the head brewer in creating and maintaining high-quality craft beers.
- Perform all necessary tasks related to the brewing process, including milling, mashing, boiling, fermenting, and packaging.
- Maintain a clean and organized brewing area and equipment.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols to ensure consistency and quality of beer.
- Monitor and record brewing process parameters, such as temperature, pH, and gravity.
- Conduct regular quality checks on beer samples to ensure standards are met.
- Assist with recipe development and experimentation.
- Provide input and suggestions for improving brewing processes and recipes.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely completion of brewing tasks.
- Train and mentor new brewery staff members.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and innovations to continuously improve brewing techniques.
- Assist with managing inventory and ordering supplies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Represent BJ's Restaurants in a professional and positive manner.
Education And Training: A Bachelor's Degree In Brewing, Fermentation Science, Or A Related Field Is Preferred For This Position. Additionally, Experience With Brewing Equipment And Processes Through Internships Or Coursework Is Highly Desirable.
Knowledge Of Brewing Techniques: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of The Brewing Process, Including Recipe Development, Ingredient Sourcing, And Quality Control. Knowledge Of Different Beer Styles And Flavor Profiles Is Also Important.
Physical Stamina: Brewing Is A Physically Demanding Job That Requires Long Hours Of Standing, Lifting Heavy Objects, And Working In Hot And Humid Environments. Candidates Should Be In Good Physical Condition And Able To Perform These Tasks Consistently.
Attention To Detail: Brewing Is A Precise And Detail-Oriented Process, And Any Small Mistake Can Lead To A Batch Of Beer Being Ruined. Therefore, Candidates Should Have Excellent Attention To Detail And Be Able To Follow Recipes And Procedures Accurately.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: As An Assistant Brewer, You Will Work Closely With A Team Of Other Brewers And Brewery Staff. Strong Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Well In A Team Are Essential For This Role. Candidates Should Also Be Able To Take Direction From Superiors And Effectively Communicate Any Issues Or Concerns.
