
Inpatient Pharmacy Technician

- Dispensing and preparing medications for inpatient use according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all medications dispensed and received.
- Collaborating with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective medication use.
- Conducting medication reconciliation for patients upon admission and discharge.
- Performing inventory management and ordering of medications and supplies.
- Adhering to all hospital and regulatory guidelines for medication storage, handling, and administration.
- Assisting with medication compounding and sterile product preparation.
- Providing excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and reporting any medication errors or discrepancies.
- Keeping up-to-date with changes in medication therapy and participating in ongoing education and training.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Participating in emergency response and disaster preparedness activities as needed.
- Adhering to all safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Communicating effectively with patients and their families to address questions or concerns about medications.
- Assisting with other duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager or supervising pharmacist.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Candidate For An Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Role At Bjc Healthcare Should Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Of Fundamental Subjects, Which Is Necessary For The Job.
Pharmacy Technician Certification: Bjc Healthcare Requires All Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians To Have A Valid And Up-To-Date Pharmacy Technician Certification (Cpht). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Job Effectively And Safely.
Previous Experience In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting: Prior Experience Working In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting Is Highly Preferred For An Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Role At Bjc Healthcare. This Experience Provides Familiarity With Hospital Procedures, Medication Management, And Safety Protocols.
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians At Bjc Healthcare Work Closely With Pharmacists, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For This Role To Ensure Efficient And Accurate Delivery Of Medication To Patients.
