Medical Coding Specialist

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Coding Specialist to join the team at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. 1. Review medical records to ensure accurate and timely coding of diagnoses and procedures.
2. Utilize various coding systems and classification systems to ensure accurate coding.
3. Ensure that all coding and documentation meets all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
4. Maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality when coding medical records.
5. Keep abreast of coding changes and updates in order to ensure coding accuracy.
6. Provide coding education and training to staff as needed.
7. Maintain coding files and records for audit and review purposes.
8. Monitor coding performance and recommend changes as needed.
9. Utilize coding software to facilitate coding accuracy and efficiency.
10. Track and report coding-related metrics.
