
Shipping & Receiving Material Handler

- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load and unload shipments.
- Receive incoming shipments and verify accuracy of contents against shipping documents.
- Inspect and report any damages or discrepancies in shipments.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular inventory checks.
- Prepare shipments for outbound delivery, including packing, labeling, and documentation.
- Ensure all shipments are properly packaged and secured for safe transport.
- Communicate with carriers to schedule pick-ups and deliveries.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist in resolving any issues or delays in shipping and receiving processes.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Cross-train in other areas of the warehouse as needed.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards colleagues and customers.
- Keep up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in shipping and receiving.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Forklift Certification: A Shipping & Receiving Material Handler At Cargill Must Have A Valid Forklift Certification, As They Will Be Responsible For Safely Operating Forklifts And Other Material Handling Equipment To Move And Transport Materials Within The Facility.
Strong Attention To Detail: The Job Of A Shipping & Receiving Material Handler Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail In Order To Accurately Track And Document Incoming And Outgoing Shipments, Ensuring The Correct Materials Are Received And Shipped To The Right Locations.
Physical Stamina: This Job Involves Manual Labor, Including Lifting, Carrying, And Moving Heavy Materials. Therefore, A Shipping & Receiving Material Handler Must Possess Physical Stamina And Be Able To Handle The Physical Demands Of The Job.
Basic Computer Skills: With The Use Of Technology In Shipping And Receiving Processes, A Material Handler At Cargill Should Be Proficient In Basic Computer Skills To Enter And Retrieve Data, Track Inventory, And Generate Shipping And Receiving Reports.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: A Shipping & Receiving Material Handler Must Be Able To Work Effectively In A Team Environment, Communicating With Other Team Members And Supervisors To Coordinate Shipments And Resolve Any Issues That May Arise. Strong Communication Skills Are Also Necessary For Interacting With Delivery Drivers, Suppliers, And Other Stakeholders.
