
Communications Manager
Managing all communications activity related to the College of Engineering. Actively mine, research, develop and create news and feature stories on Engineering content, pertaining to the strategic priorities and current events. Researching and capturing information for assignments. Conducting research and internal interviews as part of original reporting for print and digital materials. Engaging with Media, including interacting with journalists and establishing and managing relationships with reporters and faculty. Writing a variety of content, including traditional press releases, pitch support documents for the PR team, fact sheets, web content, university magazine stories and other supporting documents in an easy-to-understand format. Helping manage and optimizing contributions from faculty and administration. Maintaining an active interest in the subject matter of the assigned writing beat. Conceptualizing and creating narratives and visual content formats to turn topics into compelling stories to support communication plans. Leading all aspects of the graphic design, publication and distribution of developed content and repurpose into it into a variety of formats.
5-8 years of communications experience required
The ability to understand and translate technical and product information into priority messaging is critical
Demonstrated experience in, or knowledge of, the engineering sector, either directly or as a journalist is an advantage
