- Accurately document and report cancer cases to comply with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain a deep understanding of tumor registry operations.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all tumor registry records.
- Lead and supervise a team of tumor registry staff members.
- Train and mentor new tumor registrars on proper documentation and reporting procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other medical professionals to obtain necessary information for accurate reporting.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and guidelines related to tumor registry operations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy and completeness of tumor registry data.
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to tumor registry operations.
- Communicate with patients and their families to provide information and support related to tumor registry data.
- Attend meetings and conferences to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all tumor registry activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Certified Tumor Registrar (Ctr) Credential: The Lead Ctr Should Have A Valid Ctr Credential From The National Cancer Registrars Association (Ncra) Or Equivalent Organization. This Credential Demonstrates The Individual's Knowledge And Proficiency In Cancer Data Management And Coding.
Extensive Experience In Tumor Registry: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience Working In A Tumor Registry, With A Proven Track Record Of Accurately Collecting And Reporting Cancer Data. Previous Experience In A Leadership Or Supervisory Role Is Preferred.
Strong Knowledge Of Cancer Terminology And Coding: The Lead Ctr Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Disease Processes, And Coding Systems Related To Cancer Data, Such As Icd-O-3, Ajcc, And Seer. This Knowledge Is Essential For Accurate And Timely Reporting Of Cancer Data.
Proficient In Cancer Registry Software: Catholic Health Initiatives May Use Specialized Software For Their Tumor Registry, So The Lead Ctr Should Have Experience And Proficiency In Using Such Tools. This Includes Data Entry, Manipulation, And Reporting Capabilities.
Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Lead Position, The Individual Should Have Strong Communication And Leadership Skills To Effectively Manage And Guide A Team Of Ctrs. They Should Also Be Able To Communicate With Healthcare Providers, Researchers, And Other Stakeholders To Ensure Accurate And Timely Reporting Of Cancer Data.
