Senior Medical Lab Assistant, Surgical Pathology

A successful Senior Medical Lab Assistant will have a keen understanding of laboratory processes and protocols, and will be comfortable multitasking in a highly technical role.The required qualifications for this position include a High School Diploma or equivalent, minimum of two years of experience working as a Medical Lab Assistant in a hospital or clinical setting, and a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license. Additional qualifications include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a commitment to providing high-quality care.

Responsibilities:

1. Process specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols and procedures.
2. Record and document data in laboratory information system.
3. Prepare specimens for testing and interpret results.
4. Ensure accuracy and quality of testing results.
5. Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
6. Perform daily quality control checks on equipment and supplies.
7. Monitor and track specimens and inventory items.
8. Follow safety protocols and regulations.
9. Report any lab irregularities or discrepancies to supervisor.
10. Provide instruction and guidance to junior lab staff.
