Job Description

At Chipotle Mexican Grill, we are constantly striving to push the boundaries of flavor and innovation in our menu offerings. We are seeking a skilled and creative Research and Development Chef to join our team and help us continue to elevate our culinary experience. As a R&D Chef, you will have the unique opportunity to experiment with new ingredients, develop new recipes and contribute to the evolution of our menu.   1. Develop and create new menu items that align with the vision and brand of Chipotle Mexican Grill.
  2. Conduct thorough research on current food trends, culinary techniques, and ingredient options to inspire new menu ideas.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, and supply chain to ensure successful implementation of new menu items.
  4. Conduct product testing and gather feedback from customers to continuously improve and refine menu offerings.
  5. Create and maintain detailed documentation of recipes, ingredients, and processes for new menu items.
  6. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitive offerings to inform menu development.
  7. Participate in menu ideation sessions and present new ideas to senior leadership.
  8. Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients for new menu items.
  9. Train and mentor culinary team members on new menu items and techniques.
  10. Ensure all menu items meet food safety and quality standards.
  11. Manage and maintain inventory of ingredients and equipment needed for recipe development.
  12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to roll out new menu items to all locations.
  13. Continuously monitor and analyze the success of new menu items and make adjustments as needed.
  14. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to stay informed on new and innovative ingredients.
  15. Represent Chipotle Mexican Grill at culinary events and conferences to showcase our innovative menu offerings.

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary Degree: A Bachelor's Or Associate's Degree In Culinary Arts Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For A Research And Development Chef Position At Chipotle. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Cooking Techniques And Knowledge Of Food Science.

  • Culinary Experience: A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Working In A Professional Kitchen, Preferably In A Leadership Role, Is Necessary For A Research And Development Chef At Chipotle. This Experience Should Include Menu Development, Recipe Creation, And Kitchen Management.

  • Knowledge Of Mexican Cuisine: As A Mexican-Inspired Restaurant, Chipotle Is Looking For A Research And Development Chef Who Is Well-Versed In Mexican Cuisine. This Includes A Deep Understanding Of Traditional Flavors, Ingredients, And Cooking Techniques.

  • Creativity And Innovation: Chipotle's Menu Is Known For Its Unique And Innovative Flavor Combinations. As A Research And Development Chef, It Is Important To Have A Creative And Innovative Mindset In Order To Continuously Develop New And Exciting Menu Items.

  • Project Management Skills: Research And Development Chefs At Chipotle Are Responsible For Managing Multiple Projects At Once, From Ideation To Menu Rollout. Strong Project Management Skills, Including Organization, Time Management, And Communication, Are Essential For Success In This Role.
