- Conduct laboratory tests: Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including but not limited to microbiology, hematology, chemistry, and immunology, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric diseases.
- Ensure accuracy and precision: Follow established procedures and protocols to ensure accurate and precise results. Monitor and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during testing.
- Maintain laboratory equipment: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Analyze and interpret results: Analyze test results and compare them to established reference ranges. Use critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and identify any discrepancies or abnormal results.
- Document and report findings: Record test results accurately and maintain detailed records of all laboratory procedures and findings. Report any abnormal results to the appropriate medical staff.
- Adhere to safety protocols: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials.
- Collaborate with medical staff: Work closely with physicians and other medical staff to provide accurate and timely laboratory results. Communicate effectively and provide support in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Stay updated on industry developments: Stay current with industry advancements and new testing techniques. Attend training and continuing education programs to maintain knowledge and skills.
- Maintain quality control: Participate in quality control activities to ensure accurate and reliable results. Identify and resolve any quality control issues that may arise.
- Uphold hospital standards: Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care. Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Promote a positive work environment: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by demonstrating respect, professionalism, and teamwork with colleagues and other hospital staff.
- Educate and mentor others: Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, students, and other healthcare professionals. Provide guidance and mentorship to laboratory assistants and trainees.
Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field
Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls) From A Recognized Organization Such As Ascp Or Amt
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting, Preferably In A Pediatric Hospital
Knowledge Of Laboratory Equipment And Procedures, Including Proficiency In Performing Complex Laboratory Tests
Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Interpret And Analyze Laboratory Results Accurately And Efficiently
