Medical Assistant - Pediatric Surgery

- Greet and welcome patients and their families with a friendly and positive attitude.
- Provide assistance and support to physicians and nurses in the pediatric surgery department.
- Help maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Prepare and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and assist with procedures as needed.
- Accurately record and update patient information in electronic medical records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and coordinating patient care.
- Educate patients and families on procedures, treatments, and post-operative care.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and stay updated on current medical practices and procedures.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and families during their hospital stay.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment and promote teamwork and collaboration among colleagues.
Completion Of A Medical Assistant Program: Candidates For This Role Should Have Completed A Formal Medical Assistant Program And Be Certified Or Registered By A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama) Or The American Medical Technologists (Amt).
Experience In Pediatric Surgery: Ideal Candidates Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Pediatric Surgery Setting, With A Strong Understanding Of Surgical Procedures, Equipment, And Protocols Specific To Caring For Pediatric Patients.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures: A Solid Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Procedures, And Documentation Is Essential For A Medical Assistant In Pediatric Surgery. This Includes Knowledge Of Electronic Medical Records And Proficiency In Using Medical Equipment.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Medical Assistant In Pediatric Surgery, Candidates Must Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Providers. This Includes The Ability To Provide Compassionate Care To Pediatric Patients And Their Families.
Ability To Multitask And Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Pediatric Surgery Can Be A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment, So Candidates Should Be Able To Multitask, Prioritize, And Work Efficiently Under Pressure. This Includes The Ability To Adapt To Changing Situations And Demonstrate Strong Critical Thinking Skills.
