
Sleep Lab Technician

- Conduct sleep studies: Perform diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies on pediatric patients in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
- Monitor patients: Observe and monitor patients during sleep studies, documenting any changes in sleep patterns and vital signs.
- Analyze data: Utilize specialized software and tools to analyze sleep study data and prepare reports for physicians.
- Collaborate with team: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
- Educate patients and families: Provide education to patients and their families on sleep disorders, treatments, and lifestyle changes to improve sleep quality.
- Maintain equipment: Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of sleep lab equipment, troubleshoot any technical issues, and report any malfunctions.
- Follow safety protocols: Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- Keep accurate records: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient information, sleep study results, and other pertinent data.
- Stay current on advancements: Stay informed about new developments and advancements in sleep medicine and share knowledge with the team.
- Attend trainings and meetings: Participate in ongoing trainings and attend departmental meetings to stay updated on policies, procedures, and best practices.
Education And Certification: A Sleep Lab Technician At Cincinnati Children's Must Possess A Minimum Of An Associate's Degree In A Related Field Such As Respiratory Therapy, Polysomnography, Or Neurodiagnostics. They Should Also Be Certified In Sleep Technology By A Recognized Organization Such As The Board Of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (Brpt).
Experience: Candidates Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Sleep Lab Or A Related Healthcare Setting. This Experience Should Include Performing Sleep Studies, Scoring Sleep Data, And Troubleshooting Equipment.
Knowledge Of Sleep Disorders: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Various Sleep Disorders, Including Pediatric Sleep Disorders. They Should Also Be Familiar With The Latest Diagnostic Tools And Techniques Used In Sleep Medicine.
Technical Skills: The Role Of A Sleep Lab Technician At Cincinnati Children's Requires Proficiency In Using Specialized Sleep Equipment, Such As Polysomnography Machines, Actigraphy Devices, And Respiratory Monitors. Candidates Should Also Have Experience With Computerized Scoring Software And Electronic Medical Records.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: Working In A Sleep Lab Requires Collaboration With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Physicians, Nurses, And Technologists.
