Animal Care Worker

4. Help with the intake and processing of new animals, including completing necessary paperwork and conducting behavior assessments.
5. Interact with potential adopters and provide information about the animals in our care to help facilitate successful adoptions.
6. Participate in the training and socialization of animals to increase their chances of finding permanent homes.
7. Maintain accurate records of animal care, behavior, and any other necessary information.
8. Provide excellent customer service to visitors and volunteers, answering questions and providing guidance as needed.
9. Clean and maintain the shelter facility, including animal living areas, common areas, and equipment.
10. Assist with off-site adoption events and other community outreach programs.
11. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of animals and staff.
12. Continuously educate yourself on animal welfare issues and stay up-to-date on best practices in animal care.
13. Serve as a positive representative of the City of Austin and our commitment to animal welfare.
14. Collaborate with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter and the well-being of all animals.
15. Adhere to all city and department policies and procedures.
