
Animal Protection Officer

- Enforce animal protection laws and regulations within the city of Austin
- Investigate reports of animal cruelty, neglect, and abuse
- Respond to calls and complaints regarding stray, injured, or aggressive animals
- Conduct regular patrols and inspections to ensure compliance with animal control ordinances
- Educate the community on responsible pet ownership and the importance of animal welfare
- Work closely with local animal shelters and rescue organizations to facilitate adoptions and reunite lost pets with their owners
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of animal-related incidents and activities
- Provide assistance and support to other city departments and agencies in cases involving animals
- Handle and transport animals safely and humanely
- Train and mentor new animal protection officers
- Stay up-to-date on industry developments and best practices related to animal care and control.
A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Animals, Preferably In A Shelter Or Rescue Setting.
Knowledge Of Animal Behavior And Handling Techniques, Including Experience With Domestic And Exotic Species.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Interact Effectively With Both Animal Owners And The General Public.
Familiarity With Local And State Laws And Regulations Pertaining To Animal Welfare And Protection.
Physical Fitness And The Ability To Perform Physically Demanding Tasks, Such As Lifting And Restraining Animals, In Various Weather Conditions.
