Job Description

Welcome to the City of Austin's Animal Service Department, where we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and services to our furry and feathered friends. We are currently seeking a passionate and customer-focused individual to join our team as an Animal Service Customer Care Representative. As the first point of contact for our community members, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our animals receive the best care possible.   1. Greet and welcome community members and visitors to the Animal Service Department with a friendly and positive attitude.
  2. Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries and concerns regarding animal services, policies, and procedures.
  3. Assist with animal adoptions, intakes, and returns by providing accurate information and guidance to community members.
  4. Educate the public on responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and resources available to them.
  5. Maintain accurate records and data entry for all animal-related interactions and transactions.
  6. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of animals in the community.
  7. Respond to emergency situations involving animals and liaise with appropriate authorities.
  8. Handle financial transactions, including collecting fees and issuing receipts for services.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the comfort and safety of animals, customers, and staff.
  10. Continuously stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and procedures related to animal services.
  11. Assist with special events and programs to promote animal welfare and community engagement.
  12. Uphold the department's mission and values of providing exceptional care and services to animals and the community.
  13. Handle difficult or sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
  14. Participate in training and development opportunities to improve job knowledge and customer service skills.
  15. Comply with all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: A Successful Animal Service Customer Care Representative Must Possess Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Pet Owners, Animal Control Officers, And Other Staff Members.

  • Knowledge Of Animal Care And Behavior: This Role Requires A Solid Understanding Of Animal Care And Behavior In Order To Provide Accurate Information And Guidance To Pet Owners And Assist With Animal Control Efforts.
