We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Division Manager for our Museums and Cultural Programs department. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to lead and oversee the operations of our city's museums, galleries, and cultural events. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in museum management, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.   1. Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance and promote the city's museums, galleries, and cultural events.
  2. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the museums, galleries, and cultural events, ensuring they are running smoothly and efficiently.
  3. Develop and manage budgets for the division, ensuring responsible use of resources.
  4. Hire, train, and supervise staff members, providing guidance and support to ensure a high level of performance.
  5. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the division.
  6. Work closely with community organizations, artists, and other stakeholders to develop partnerships and collaborations that enhance cultural experiences for the community.
  7. Actively seek out and apply for grants and funding opportunities to support the division's initiatives.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with donors and sponsors to secure funding for exhibitions and events.
  9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in museum management to continuously improve the division's offerings.
  10. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to museum operations and cultural programming.
  11. Represent the division and the city at community events, conferences, and other public forums.
  12. Prepare and present reports to senior management and city officials on the division's activities, progress, and impact.
  13. Collaborate with other city departments and divisions to promote and support cultural initiatives and events.
  14. Act as a spokesperson for the division, promoting its mission and values to the public.
  15. Handle any issues or concerns that arise within the division, providing timely and effective resolutions.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Museum Studies, Art History, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role Within A Museum Or Cultural Institution.

  • Demonstrated Knowledge And Understanding Of Museum Best Practices, Including Collections Management, Exhibition Planning, And Educational Programming.

  • Experience In Budget Management And Grant Writing For Cultural Programs.

  • Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Diverse Stakeholders And Represent The City Of Austin In A Professional Manner.
