Job Description

If so, the City of Austin has an exciting opportunity for you as an Employee Relations Investigator. As a key member of our Human Resources team, you will play a critical role in ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment for all employees. We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of employment laws, policies, and procedures.   1. Conduct thorough investigations of employee relations complaints, including interviewing relevant parties and gathering evidence, to ensure fair and equitable resolution of issues.
  2. Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on workplace policies, procedures, and best practices.
  3. Stay up-to-date on employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance and inform decision-making.
  4. Collaborate with the HR team to develop and implement strategies to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  5. Analyze data and trends related to employee relations to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for policy or process changes.
  6. Serve as a resource for employees seeking guidance or assistance with workplace concerns.
  7. Facilitate training sessions on topics such as conflict resolution, diversity and inclusion, and harassment prevention.
  8. Maintain accurate and confidential records of investigations and related documentation.
  9. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including employees, managers, and legal counsel.
  10. Represent the City of Austin in legal proceedings related to employee relations matters.
  11. Proactively identify potential areas of risk and work with the HR team to mitigate them.
  12. Provide timely and thorough updates and reports to HR leadership on employee relations matters.
  13. Act as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions with employees.
  14. Participate in special projects and initiatives related to employee relations as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Human Resources, Business Administration, Or A Related Field

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Employee Relations, Investigations, Or A Related Field

  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Employment Laws And Regulations

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Handle Sensitive And Confidential Information

  • Experience Conducting Workplace Investigations, Including Interviewing Witnesses And Documenting Findings.
