The City of Austin is seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as a Planner Principal for Planning, Monitoring, and Compliance. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the city's planning initiatives while ensuring compliance with local and state regulations.   1. Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to guide the city's growth and development.
  2. Monitor and analyze development proposals and applications to ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
  3. Conduct thorough research and analysis to support decision making and recommendations for city planning.
  4. Collaborate with other city departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination of planning efforts.
  5. Lead and manage a team of planners, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  6. Review and provide feedback on proposed zoning changes, land use designations, and other development projects.
  7. Prepare and present reports and presentations on planning initiatives and compliance efforts to city officials and the public.
  8. Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in city planning and compliance.
  9. Foster positive relationships with community members and stakeholders to gather input and address concerns.
  10. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness in planning and compliance efforts.
  11. Develop and manage budgets and resources for planning and compliance activities.
  12. Represent the city at meetings, conferences, and other events related to planning and compliance.
  13. Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for planning and compliance inquiries and issues.
  14. Ensure the use of sustainable and equitable practices in all planning and compliance efforts.
  15. Continuously evaluate and assess the effectiveness of planning and compliance strategies and make recommendations for improvement.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Urban Planning, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Municipal Planning, Including Project Management And Land Use Regulations.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Land Use Planning And Development.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Various Stakeholders And Lead A Team.

  • Experience With Planning And Monitoring Tools And Software, As Well As Data Analysis And Reporting.
