  1. Lead and manage complex planning projects that align with the City of Austin's vision and goals.
  2. Conduct research and analysis to inform planning decisions and provide recommendations to city officials.
  3. Develop and implement long-term plans and policies for land use, transportation, and other key areas.
  4. Collaborate with various city departments, community organizations, and stakeholders to gather input and ensure alignment with community needs.
  5. Supervise and mentor junior planners, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their roles.
  6. Stay up-to-date on planning trends, best practices, and relevant laws and regulations.
  7. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as the City of Austin's policies and procedures.
  8. Foster a culture of innovation and sustainability, incorporating these principles into planning projects.
  9. Support public engagement efforts, including organizing and facilitating community meetings and workshops.
  10. Represent the City of Austin at public meetings and events, promoting the city's vision and goals.
  11. Provide regular updates and reports to city officials and other stakeholders on planning projects and initiatives.
  12. Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure timely and successful completion of planning projects.
  13. Collaborate with other city departments and outside agencies on joint planning efforts.
  14. Act as a subject matter expert on planning issues, providing guidance and expertise to city officials and other stakeholders.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve planning processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Urban And Regional Planning, With At Least 2 Years In A Leadership Or Supervisory Role.

  • A Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Urban Planning, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Planning And Development.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With A Diverse Range Of Stakeholders And Community Members.

  • Demonstrated Experience In Managing Complex Planning Projects, Including Developing And Implementing Comprehensive Plans And Policies.
