- Lead and manage complex planning projects that align with the City of Austin's vision and goals.
- Conduct research and analysis to inform planning decisions and provide recommendations to city officials.
- Develop and implement long-term plans and policies for land use, transportation, and other key areas.
- Collaborate with various city departments, community organizations, and stakeholders to gather input and ensure alignment with community needs.
- Supervise and mentor junior planners, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their roles.
- Stay up-to-date on planning trends, best practices, and relevant laws and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as the City of Austin's policies and procedures.
- Foster a culture of innovation and sustainability, incorporating these principles into planning projects.
- Support public engagement efforts, including organizing and facilitating community meetings and workshops.
- Represent the City of Austin at public meetings and events, promoting the city's vision and goals.
- Provide regular updates and reports to city officials and other stakeholders on planning projects and initiatives.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure timely and successful completion of planning projects.
- Collaborate with other city departments and outside agencies on joint planning efforts.
- Act as a subject matter expert on planning issues, providing guidance and expertise to city officials and other stakeholders.
- Continuously evaluate and improve planning processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Urban And Regional Planning, With At Least 2 Years In A Leadership Or Supervisory Role.
A Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Urban Planning, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.
Strong Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Planning And Development.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With A Diverse Range Of Stakeholders And Community Members.
Demonstrated Experience In Managing Complex Planning Projects, Including Developing And Implementing Comprehensive Plans And Policies.
