Welcome to the City of Austin's Parks and Recreation Department! We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Recreation Programs Specialist to join our team. As a Recreation Programs Specialist, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community by developing and implementing various recreational programs for all ages and abilities. Develop and implement a wide range of recreational programs for all ages and abilities.
Plan and coordinate events, activities, and classes that align with the department's goals and objectives.
Monitor program budget and expenses, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Collaborate with community organizations and partners to expand program offerings and reach a diverse population.
Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers.
Create and distribute promotional materials to increase program participation.
Maintain accurate records and data on program attendance and outcomes.
Continuously evaluate and improve programs based on participant feedback and community needs.
Ensure all programs are inclusive and accessible to individuals of different backgrounds and abilities.
Uphold safety protocols and regulations in all program activities.
Communicate effectively with program participants, their families, and other stakeholders.
Represent the Parks and Recreation Department in a professional and positive manner.
Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in recreational programming.
Attend department meetings and training sessions as required.
Adhere to all department policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Experience Working In Recreation Programming, Preferably In A Municipal Setting.
Knowledge Of Best Practices And Current Trends In Recreation Programming, Including Program Development, Implementation, And Evaluation.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Interact With Diverse Populations.
Demonstrated Organizational Skills And Ability To Manage Multiple Tasks And Projects Simultaneously.
