
Forensic Specialist
Plans, coordinates and directs the activities and operations of the Identification and Property Sections. Trains, reviews and schedules the work of Identification and Property Section personnel. Conducts crime scene investigations in an effort to recognize, collect and preserve physical evidence such as fibers, fingerprints, firearm evidence, hairs, impression evidence - shoe, tire or tool, and physiological fluids. Processes evidence collected at the crime scene for other forms of physical, physiological and trace evidence. Prepares, enters and retrieves latent fingerprints in the Automated Fingerprint Identification System. Prepares detailed reports of investigations and/or forensic examinations conducted. Maintains Department photographic equipment.
Ability to Use sound judgment in recognizing scope of authority.
Thorough knowledge of the analysis and identification procedures for latent fingerprint evidence
Knowledge of laboratory analysis techniques.
