  1. Maintain the safety and security of detainees at all times.

  3. Conduct thorough searches of detainees and their belongings.
  4. Enforce rules and regulations within the detention facility.
  5. Report any suspicious or concerning behavior to superiors.
  6. Communicate effectively with detainees, fellow officers, and other staff members.
  7. Document and report all incidents and activities within the facility.
  8. Maintain accurate records and documentation of detainees' personal information.
  9. Respond to emergencies and situations that may arise within the facility.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay updated on safety and security protocols.
  11. Collaborate with law enforcement, legal professionals, and other agencies as needed.
  12. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards set by the City of Detroit and the detention facility.
  13. Act as a positive role model for detainees and promote rehabilitation and positive behavior.
  14. Foster a professional and respectful work environment within the detention facility.
  15. Support and uphold the mission and values of the City of Detroit and the detention facility.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Detention Facility Officer Job At City Of Detroit Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Is Equipped With Essential Skills Such As Reading, Writing, And Basic Math.
