Job Description

The Assistant Public Works Director / Assistant General Manager is a stand-alone classification. Plans, manages and oversees the daily functions, operations, and activities of SDWD and EWWD. Performs diverse, specialized, and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibility. Attends and presents at City Council, Board and Committee meetings as primary staff representative.. Reviews and inspects engineering projects to ensure conformance with standards, plans, and policies; certifies completion of projects. Responds to and resolves citizen complaints; investigates and analyzes complex issues.

Job Qualifications

  • 6 years of progressively responsible administrative experience is required

  • At least four years of supervisory experience

  • Experience in the operation of domestic water supply, treatment and distribution facilities

  • Professional Engineering License is highly desirable.
