Job Description

The City of Jersey City is seeking a highly motivated and bilingual (English/Spanish) Program Nutritionist to join our dynamic team.   1. Develop and implement nutrition programs and services for diverse populations in the City of Jersey City.
  2. Conduct nutrition education sessions and workshops for community members.
  3. Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and healthcare providers to promote healthy living and nutrition.
  4. Conduct research and stay updated on the latest nutrition guidelines and recommendations.
  5. Provide individualized nutrition counseling and support to community members.
  6. Develop culturally competent nutrition materials and resources.
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition programs and make necessary adjustments.
  8. Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  9. Provide bilingual (English/Spanish) services to meet the needs of the diverse community.
  10. Maintain accurate records and documentation of program activities.
  11. Participate in community events and health fairs to promote nutrition education and healthy living.
  12. Serve as a resource for other city departments and community partners on nutrition-related matters.
  13. Advocate for policies and initiatives that promote healthy eating and nutrition.
  14. Continuously assess and improve the quality of nutrition programs and services.
  15. Demonstrate a strong commitment to improving public health and promoting healthy living.

Job Qualifications

  • Fluency In English And Spanish: The Candidate Must Be Fluent In Both English And Spanish To Effectively Communicate With The Diverse Community Of Jersey City.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition, Dietetics, Or A Related Field Is Required To Ensure The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Nutrition Principles.

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (Rdn) Certification: The Candidate Must Be A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (Rdn) Certified By The Commission On Dietetic Registration (Cdr) To Provide Evidence-Based Nutrition Counseling And Education.

  • Experience Working With Diverse Populations: Previous Experience Working With Diverse Populations, Particularly In A Bilingual Setting, Is Preferred To Understand And Address The Unique Nutritional Needs And Challenges Of The Community.

  • Knowledge Of Public Health And Community Resources: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Public Health Principles And Be Familiar With Community Resources To Develop And Implement Effective Nutrition Programs For The City Of Jersey City.
