- Provide legal guidance and advice to the City Council, City Manager, and city departments in various legal matters.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support city initiatives and decisions.
- Draft and review legal documents, contracts, and ordinances.
- Represent the city in court proceedings and negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Monitor and stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the city.
- Collaborate with other city departments and outside agencies to address legal issues and concerns.
- Maintain accurate and organized legal records and documents.
- Advise and educate city staff on legal matters to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and workshops to stay informed and up-to-date on legal issues and developments.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.
- Prepare and present legal reports and recommendations to city leadership.
- Assist in the management and oversight of outside legal counsel.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the legal department and across all city departments.
Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School.
Active Membership In Good Standing With The State Bar Of Nevada.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Practicing Law With A Focus On Municipal Law, Government Law, Or Related Field.
Experience Representing Government Entities, Such As Cities Or Counties, In Legal Matters.
Strong Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations, Particularly Those Related To Municipal Government Operations.
