As a Library Aide, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the organization and accessibility of our library's resources, as well as providing assistance to library patrons.   1. Maintain organization and accessibility of library resources for easy use by patrons.
  2. Provide exceptional customer service to library patrons, including answering questions and assisting with finding materials.
  3. Assist in cataloguing and shelving books, magazines, and other library materials.
  4. Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of library spaces, including shelves, desks, and study areas.
  5. Help patrons with using library equipment, such as computers and printers.
  6. Process and handle incoming and outgoing library materials, including checking in and out books.
  7. Collaborate with other library staff to develop and implement programs and events for the community.
  8. Assist with inventory management and ordering of new materials.
  9. Stay up-to-date on library policies and procedures to ensure the best service for patrons.
  10. Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all library visitors.
  11. Handle financial transactions, such as collecting fines and fees.
  12. Provide recommendations and suggestions for improving library services and resources.
  13. Ensure compliance with library rules and regulations.
  14. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by library supervisors.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Library Aide At City Of Omaha Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education.

  • Knowledge Of Library Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Library Procedures, Including Checking In And Out Materials, Shelving Books, And Assisting Patrons With Locating Resources.

  • Excellent Customer Service Skills: Library Aides Interact With A Diverse Group Of Patrons And Must Be Able To Provide Friendly And Helpful Assistance To All Individuals.

  • Basic Computer Skills: Library Aides Are Expected To Have Basic Computer Skills And Be Comfortable Using Library Databases, Catalog Systems, And Microsoft Office Programs.

  • Attention To Detail: A Library Aide Must Be Detail-Oriented To Accurately Shelve Books, Organize Materials, And Assist Patrons With Finding Resources. This Also Includes The Ability To Accurately Handle And Process Financial Transactions, Such As Collecting Fines Or Fees.
