Job Description

Welcome to the City of Pittsburgh! We are currently seeking an experienced Emergency Management Planner to join our dedicated team of professionals. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to utilize your expertise and skills to develop, implement and maintain emergency management plans for our city. As an integral member of our emergency management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and resilience of our community in the face of natural disasters, public health emergencies, and other potential crises.   1. Develop and maintain emergency management plans for the City of Pittsburgh.
  2. Collaborate with other emergency management professionals, government agencies, and community partners to ensure effective emergency response and preparedness.
  3. Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities within the city.
  4. Analyze data and trends to inform emergency management planning and decision-making.
  5. Stay up-to-date on current emergency management practices and policies, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
  6. Train and educate city staff, emergency responders, and community members on emergency preparedness and response procedures.
  7. Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency plans.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal emergency management agencies and organizations.
  9. Monitor and report on potential or ongoing emergencies and disasters, and provide timely updates and recommendations to city officials.
  10. Manage and allocate resources, such as personnel and equipment, during emergency situations.
  11. Act as a spokesperson for the city during emergencies and communicate important information to the public and media.
  12. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to emergency management activities.
  13. Participate in the development and administration of the emergency management budget.
  14. Serve as a subject matter expert on emergency management for city officials and community members.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices in emergency management.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Emergency Management, Public Administration, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Emergency Management Planning Or A Closely Related Field.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Local, State, And Federal Emergency Management Laws, Regulations, And Procedures.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate And Coordinate With Various Stakeholders And Agencies.

  • Experience In Developing Emergency Response Plans And Conducting Training And Exercises.
