- Manage and maintain the city's Geographic Information System (GIS) to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Oversee data collection, analysis, and visualization to provide up-to-date information for decision-making.
- Collaborate with various departments and projects to identify GIS needs and provide solutions.
- Develop and implement GIS policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistency and quality in data management.
- Stay updated on new GIS technologies and advancements to continuously improve the city's GIS capabilities.
- Train and support departmental staff on the proper use of GIS tools and applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to GIS systems.
- Ensure data security and integrity by implementing appropriate backup and recovery procedures.
- Communicate GIS updates, changes, and issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain GIS documentation and metadata.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to implement GIS projects.
- Participate in meetings and presentations to provide updates and recommendations on GIS initiatives.
- Work with other departments to integrate GIS data into their workflows and processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other GIS professionals and organizations to stay informed and share best practices.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve and streamline GIS processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the IT department to ensure GIS systems are compatible with other city systems and networks.
- Support the city's mission of using technology to improve the quality of life for citizens.
- Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to GIS data management and privacy.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor's Degree In Gis, Geography, Urban Planning, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience Working With Gis Software And Databases.
Knowledge Of Local Government Operations And Policies, Specifically Related To Land Use And Transportation.
Experience With Spatial Data Analysis And Mapping Techniques.
Strong Communication And Project Management Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Various Departments And Stakeholders Within The City Of Pittsburgh.
