Welcome to the City of Portland-Oregon's Environmental Education – Nature Day Camp Series! Our program aims to provide children with an immersive and engaging experience in nature, while also teaching them about the importance of environmental conservation. We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors. - Create and implement engaging and educational activities that align with the camp's mission and goals.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
- Act as a role model and mentor for campers, promoting positive behaviors and attitudes towards the environment.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for campers of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Maintain open and effective communication with campers, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members.
- Prepare and organize necessary materials and supplies for each day's activities.
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of camp facilities and equipment.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leadership to plan and execute special events and field trips.
- Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques when dealing with conflicts or challenging situations.
- Attend all required trainings and meetings to ensure the success of the program.
- Continuously seek ways to improve and enhance the camp experience for campers.
- Adhere to all camp policies and procedures, including those related to safety, health, and emergency protocols.
- Emphasize the importance of environmental conservation and encourage campers to practice sustainable habits.
- Actively participate in the evaluation and assessment of the camp program.
- Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude throughout the duration of the camp.
Bachelor's Degree In Environmental Studies, Education, Or A Related Field.
Previous Experience Working With Children In An Outdoor Education Or Camp Setting.
Knowledge Of Local Flora And Fauna, As Well As Environmental Conservation Principles.
Cpr And First Aid Certification.
Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Plan And Facilitate Engaging Educational Activities.
